Supporting families during these challenging times
Our 2020-2021 academic year full-day program combines virtual learning support with engaging and fun activities -en Español- for Aventureros in grades K - 5th
Given that schools are doing distance learning only and -as working parents- we recognize the challenges associated with home schooling, for the 2020-2021 academic year we are offering an in-person Monday through Friday Spanish Immersion* full-day program, with operating hours of 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. We dedicate the morning and early afternoon to distance learning and schoolwork support, including assisting children with their Zoom sessions and school assignments (families need to provide a tablet or device for Zoom meetings, and detailed schedules, instructions and passwords), and we have our signature Experiential Learning programming in the late afternoon.
This is our daily schedule:
8:30 am - 12:00 pm - Distance learning support -with individual snack and brain breaks as needed
12:00 - 1:15 pm - Lunch and recess at our patio
1:15 - 2:45 pm - Distance learning support / Supervised indoor free time
2:45 - 3:15 pm - Afternoon break & snack
3:15 - 3:30 pm - Community circle and mindfulness practice
3:30 - 4:30 pm - Experiential learning activities
* During distance learning support we'll use a combination of Spanish and English depending on each students' needs.
Our daily afternoon activities are focused on Experiential Learning and incorporate a combination of visual arts, music + movement, drama + storytelling, STEM, yoga + mindfulness, and culture and community. Our adventures are guided by our monthly themes, and they all happen in a Spanish Immersion environment.
We schedule weekly field trips to select locations such as Stern Grove, Glen Park, Ocean Beach, Golden Gate Park and others. Parents drop off and pick up kids at that week's location. Our schedule on field trip days is 10 am - 5 pm.
COVID-19 Safety Measures
Disinfecting high-touch surfaces several times a day, before, during, and after program hours
HVAC system (Mission location), air purifiers (both locations), and open windows and doors when possible to allow for air flow
Offer ample opportunity for outdoor activities
All students and staff members are screened everyday with a no-touch thermometer before entering the program
Children need to wear a face covering at all times, except for meal times, which happen outdoors (weather permitting).
Hand sanitizer and extra marks are provided
We ask of all families and staff members to:
Limit your exposure to COVID-19 by following social distancing protocols at all times.
Do not bring your child(ren) to Aventuras if they've had any symptoms of illness, or had contact with someone suspected to have COVID-19, or with a confirmed case of COVID-19
Wear a face covering when dropping off and picking up your child(ren).
Our community is very careful and conscientious of the shared responsibility of following the recommended precautions and maintaining a healthy pod. As an FYI, here is a quick guide to the steps and procedures for when someone has suspected or confirmed COVID-19.
Enrollment and Tuition
Our goal is to offer a high quality Spanish Immersion after school program for families who:
- value bilingualism and favor Spanish as a second language, and/or
- already speak Spanish and value culture and tradition
Therefore, we welcome children who already have some knowledge of and familiarity with the Spanish language - currently in a Spanish Immersion or Dual Language School program, previous experience of at least one full year in a Spanish Immersion preschool or with a Spanish-speaking caregiver, or living in a Spanish-speaking/bilingual household.
Our program follows the SFUSD calendar, closing on holidays, Spring break, Summer break, Thanksgiving break, and Winter break. Our Winter/Spring 2021 program runs through Wednesday, June 2nd.
Monthly tuition is $2,080/month and includes a daily healthy snack and all materials used in the program. Lunch and afternoon snacks are not included. Siblings receive a 5% discount on tuition.
We ask for a deposit equal to one month's tuition, and at least 30-days notice if withdrawing early in order to have your deposit applied to your last month. If notice is received less than 30 days before withdrawing your deposit will not be refunded. At this time, given the uncertainty of the situation, we are not offering pre-payment options nor discounts. However, we would like to offer financial aid to one or two families who really need it; if you would like to apply for reduced tuition based on income please email us at for more information.
If you're interested in enrolling your child(ren) please fill out our Application Form and email it back to us. We'll be reviewing applications as they come, and if you are offered a spot, we'll be sending you a couple forms to sign (Enrollment Agreement and Waivers & Release docs). Applications that are not offered a spot will be placed on our wait list, and will also receive an email with that information. As spots open up we'll be contacting families on the wait list.
Even though our full-day program is usually full at both locations, enrolled families' circumstances change and we sometimes have openings at the beginning of the month, therefore we are open to receiving applications at any time. If you're interested in finding out if there are any spots available at any given time, please fill out this Application Form, and email it to . We'll get back to you within 5 business days.
Questions? Please contact us and we'll be happy to answer them.
