We're going to have a Summer full of fun adventures
Join us for our Verano de Aventuras Summer Camps!
Aventuras is excited to offer Spanish Immersion in-person Summer Camps in San Francisco in June, July and August. Just like our After School Program, our "Verano de Aventuras" is based on Experiential Learning and offers -each week- a combination of fun and interactive activities in the areas of visual arts, STEM, music & movement, mindfulness, and culture & community.
** February 2021 UPDATE **
We will be offering Summer Camps this summer, but we do not know the exact format or capacity yet. Given the uncertainty brought by the pandemic, and the City and the Department of Public Health (DPH) mandates for summer camp providers like us, it is hard to say how many spots will be available, and how long sessions will be. Last year we were allowed a maximum of 12 kids in a cohort (pod), and 3-week minimum sessions per cohort. We expect the 2021 requirements to be similar but we won't know until the DPH publishes them, most likely in May. We will assume 12 kids and 3-week sessions for enrollment purposes and will adjust -if necessary- once more information is released.
We give priority to families currently enrolled in our full-day programs at both locations, which will impact the amount of spots available to non-enrolled families.
Our enrollment timeline will follow different tiers:
Enrollment opens in mid-February for families currently enrolled in our full-day program
Enrollment opens in early March for families currently waitlisted for our full-day program
Enrollment opens in mid-March for families who were enrolled in our After School program during the academic year 2019-2020
Enrollment opens in April for all other families. If you would like to be notified when enrollment for tier 4 begins, please contact us.
More info and details below...
The City of San Francisco has not published their requirements and regulations for Summer Camp providers for the 2021 Summer. We will offer Summer Camps starting in June and will assume the same 2020 regulations for summer camps will apply. If, and when these regulations change, we will adjust our program and capacity and will inform enrolled and waitlisted families as soon as we can.
We will offer in-person Summer Camps to all kids and families, not just essential workers. Some of the 2020 regulations and procedures include:
having stable groups of 12 or less children (pods)
offer sessions with a minimum duration of 3 weeks each
follow disinfecting and cleaning guidelines as published by the CDC, the Health Department and other agencies
require that all children wear a mask or face covering approved by the CDC
require that parents/guardians keep social distance and mask-wearing when dropping off and picking-up their kids, and at all times while outside their home
We'll offer three 3-week sessions:
- Session 1 - June 14 - July 2nd
- Session 2 - July 6 - 24
- Session 3 - July 26 - August 13
Our Summer Camp hours are 9:30 am - 4:30 pm.
Cost is $1,500 for each 3-week session
We will be offering before-camp care between 8:30 and 9:30 am for $60/week or $150/session
Since we are fortunate to have a large indoor space, plus a patio, we are able to offer a combination of indoor and outdoor activities. We will also have one field trip per week to a local park/large open space, such as Glen Park Canyon, Stern Grove, Ocean Beach, Golden Gate Park, and McLaren Park for hiking, nature explorations and lots of games. On filed trip days children need to be dropped off and picked up at those locations, as we are not able to offer transportation to/from our locations to/from the field trip location.
This is our sample schedule for a regular camp day:
8:30 - 9:30 am - early care, supervised free time
9:30 - 10 am - arrival at our location, supervised free time
10:00 - 10:30 am - community and mindfulness circle, and introduction to the daily activities
10:30 - 10:50 am - morning snack (we will provide a healthy morning snack)
10:50 am - 12:20 pm - morning Experiential Learning activities
12:20 - 2:00 pm - lunch at the patio, supervised outdoor free playtime and guided games
2:00 - 3:15 - afternoon Experiential Learning activities
3:15 - 3:30 - afternoon snack (please send an afternoon snack)
3:30 - 4:00 pm - supervised free playtime and guided games (indoor/outdoor)
4:15 - 4:30 pm - pick-up
Specific locations for field trip days will be shared a week before the beginning of camp.
No change/modification fees. Family can change to another available session and pay only the difference in session price, if any.
In the event the session needs to be cancelled due to health advisories, you will receive full credit for a future session/program, or a full refund minus a $100 fee.
Cancellations: a full refund minus a $100 cancellation fee if cancellation is received no later than 4 weeks before the start of the session. You can cancel the session up to two weeks before the session starts and receive full credit to re-book for any future session/program.
All credits must be used by Sept 1, 2022 and can be used for another family member.
